Fen

History

• 

  A blue-blooded phoenix, hailing from lands overflowing with magic. Even with this abundance Fen's family, House Thames, is particularly known for their magical prowess alongside the purity of their phoenix blood, so carefully bred. Their inherent magical abilities as phoenixes, as well as individual skills in various schools of magic is held in high regard, allowing House Thames to be widely respected as nobility among the mage's court of their homeland.
  
  Fen showed great ability from a very early age, and quickly mastered elemental magic. Guiding water into dancing displays, cutting pathways for himself through stormwinds, and melting sand into glass all seem like second nature to him. Ironically for a phoenix, mastering fire took the most time for him and he rarely uses it aside from lighting candles with a flick of his finger. He is currently studying arcane magic - sensing and manipulating magical energy, as well as summoning objects and creatures. The fruits of his labor can be seen in a small, harmless, spider-like critter seemingly made of lightning that can sometimes be found following at his heels.
  
  Along with his personal collection of reading material, Fen has also authored a handful of books related to magical arts. It is also rumored, mostly by the family's rambunctious youth, that Fen has written fiction novels of a more... risqué variety, under an alias. There doesn't appear to be any proof of this.

  

  Fen had an early arranged marriage to a woman named Varina, another magically skilled phoenix from a wealthy family, in hopes of continuing the Thames bloodline. Though she seems to have disappeared out of Fen's life, he will never speak ill of her. Her whereabouts are unknown to both of their families.
  
  More recently, Fen has taken on his nephew Lias as an understudy. Lias' wayward attitude towards their family's high standards drew his parents into their decision to have him better himself under Fen's guidance. Their relationship is on good terms. When Lias pulls at his strings, however, Fen's reluctance towards the whole situation tends creep up from behind his otherwise calm and scholarly demeanor.
